Philip Anderson Lockman

U.S. Veteran

Philip Anderson Lockman, 88, of Arcanum, died Saturday, March 9th, 2013 at Brethren Retirement Community, Greenville. Mr. Lockman was born in Hamilton on April 24, 1924, the son of the late Philip A. and Mary E (Anderson) Lockman. He attended Pitsburg Church of the Brethren and was a veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II. Mr. Lockman was a retired teacher and Principal of the Arcanum Butler Middle School. He graduated in 1949 from Wittenberg, Springfield with a Bachelors Degree in education and received his Masters Degree from Ball State University in 1971. He was member of the Arcanum Lions Club and the Greenville Elks. Phil was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by 3 Sisters Selma Ulrich, Florence Miller, and Lillian Beard, and a Brother George Lockman. Phil is survived by his wife Miriam (McNelly) Lockman whom he married February 11, 1950; Daughters Peggy Sanders and husband Tim of Laura and Mindy Longfellow and husband Alan of Union City, Ohio; Sons Nick Lockman and wife Veronica of Morrow and Brian Lockman of Arcanum; Grandchildren Patrick and Matthew Lockman, Shanna (Nick) Good, Lance (Rachel) Lockman, Alex and Zac Longfellow, Jamie (Greg) McDowell, Jessica (Matt) Whitmire; Great Grandchildren Carson and Ava Grace Good, Zack McDowell, Kayla and Hayden Whitmire. Memorial Service will be held 4:00 PM on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at the Pitsburg Church of the Brethren. There will be no public viewing.
